Coloring Your Resin Doll
There are multiple ways to color your doll!
Paint
Acrylic paint works best. You must add a primer or gesso before painting; otherwise, the paint will not stick properly and will peel.
Pastels
This is the most common method of adding color to dolls. Ideally, some sealant should be applied before starting and between layers for best results. The sealant will provide some tooth for the powder to stick. Pan pastels or shredded chalk pastels are typically used.
Dye
Dyeing 3D prints can be a bit tricky depending on the resin used. In my experience, ABS-like will crack if left under high temperatures for too long. Submerging for 5-8 seconds at a time with a few seconds of rest between dunks is sufficient. It's best practice to dye before adding magnets, as the heat can make them fall out, but more importantly, it will weaken them.
Sealant
This is something I am still working on when it comes to paint. Dyed dolls don't really need sealant; pastels can be sealed the same way as used between layers.
Paint can be sealed with varnish or resin, and the joints may still need some fabric lining to prevent chipping.
